Transforming a plain hallway and staircase into a modern feature that completely changes the look and feel of the home.

This project focused on bespoke wall panelling running alongside the staircase and through the surrounding stairwell. The layout was set out to follow the exact pitch and changing angles of the stairs, with the larger framed panels carefully proportioned so the finished pattern feels balanced and deliberately built into the space.

Every panel was carefully measured, cut, sanded and fitted on-site before being stained and painted to perfectly complement the family's home. A clean fitted frontage on the outside, with a surprising amount of practical storage built into the space behind it.

This made-to-measure understairs unit was shaped around the exact angle of the staircase, turning the awkward triangular space beneath it into a series of deep, easy-to-access storage compartments. The outer panels follow the stair line neatly, so when everything is closed the joinery sits naturally within the hallway rather than looking like storage has simply been added afterwards.
